Deep Meadow Organic

Padraic believes that a farm should be as self sufficient as possible so limits the amounts of concentrates (manufactured using cereals and grains) used on farm, he also believes that the beef tastes better from a grass-based system. There are also health benefits for those who are gluten intolerant as traces of gluten can be found in the meat if the animal is intensely feed concentrates. It is sustainable as a lot of the organic feed available is imported from outside of Ireland. Padraic also has started to use more traditional types of beef breeds since converting to organic farming as these are more suitable for grass based systems.

Padraic is the third generation on this farm his Grandfather, Paddy O’Donnell and Father, Francis O’Donnell both farmed this same farm before him. His Grandfather was born in Derrybrien which is approx. 5 miles East of Cloondine. The farm itself is located between the Slieve Augthy and Burren Mountains both of which can be seen when visting the farm.

Padraic has been selling directly to customers since 2023, using a local butcher in neighbouring parish to process his cattle. The prime beef in box format offering 10kg and 20kg boxes, offal is available on request. Customers are seeking offal more often as the nutritional value and depth of flavour of these cuts are becoming appreciated.
